A girl’s life…

You are my truth.

The reason that I breathe,

My Almighty God,

My sanctuary where I hide.

The hope in my heart,

The light behind my life.

You are everything.

I tried to escape you today,

It did not work,

Everywhere I turned something brought me back to you.

I ran away,

Yet still reminder after reminder,

I gave in,

Yet you, I could not find.

When I came to you,

You had gone,

I was left to despair and pray,

That I was meant to be your friend,

Un-allowed to even make the slightest advance,

For fear that I too might be gone from you.

I’m sitting here,

Surveying the territory gave me,

For the first time in a while I have peace in my heart,

Knowing that God has provided for me,

And despite men letting me down,

He is here.

Yet, I am still missing one thing dear to my heart,

I don’t want to appear ungrateful,

But I love you and God has placed you far away from me,

But closer than I thought.

It’s a revelation to me that I could love you so deeply,

You and I are so different,

The one type of man I swore I’d never go for,

Yet I didn’t guard my heart enough from you,

If this is sin,

I’m sorry Lord, but I’m not sure I can let go…

I just want to put my head in a paper bag,

No offence you said,

But that doesn’t give you a license to hurt me so badly.

You think you know me,

But I’m only willing to show you part of the picture,

But that’s all you need to judge me.

Hey guess what,

I’m not perfect,

I’m just me – love me or stay away.
